Actress Bipasha Basu has been around for quite a while now and really does not need to prove herself. The actress, who recently has a release in Aa Dekhen Zara, where she was cast opposite Neil Nitin Mukesh, is now looking for big films.The actress has realised that it makes more sense to work for a production house which will not also look into the marketing and selling of the movie. Maybe the actress has been inspired by Aamir Khan, and wants to be a lot more choosy about her work.

If a film does not get a proper release, then all the good work put in by the actors and the others, suffers, is what she feels. Her grouse is that very few people actually are into that kind of thought process, which looks beyond the making of the film, but is also thinking of creating the right kind of buzz around a film and ensuring that it has a decent release. That is quite similar to the way the biggies in the industry operate these days, like Aamir and even Shah Rukh Khan.

Bipasha, who has managed to gain a foothold in Yash Raj films with Dhoom, Bachna Ae Haaseeno and a song appearance in Rab Na Bana Di Jodi, is ready for big things. Meanwhile, it seems that Neil, her co star in Aa Dekhne Zara has really endeared himself to her because of his sincerity and passion for his work. Also the fact, that he is a good friend of John Abraham, has perhaps also helped tilt the scales in Neil’s favour. The actress too seems to be quite happy with her role in the movie, where she played a Bengali girl, a role that she could truly identify with.

The actress is in a relationship with Raj Kundra, who is a London-based Indian mogul. This pair was in the news sometime back for jointly buying the IPL team Rajastan Royals.

A.R. Rahman announces his world tour

Kochi, Mar 29 (ANI): Oscar winning music director A.R. Rahman has announced that he will undertake a world tour musical concert. The concert named ’Jai Ho’ is organised by Global Kerala initiative and its proceedings would go towards rehabilitating HIV positive orphaned children. Rahman will start his world tour with a live concert premier in Kozhikode on May 3. On being asked if the original singer of the award winning song "Jai Ho" Sukhwinder Singh will join the concert, Rahman said Sukhwinder will be part of the shows in Northern India.

"It depends on the dates. The way we have figured out this concert is with completely new talent, so Sukhwinder will be the part of Northern India concerts. From Southern India, we have a selection of the extraordinary talent," said Rahman. ’Jai Ho’, the song composed by Rahman for the film "Slumdog Millionaire", was adjudged the best song at this year’s Oscars. "Slumdog Millionaire", a rags-to-riches story of a Mumbai slum dweller who goes on to win 20 million dollars in a quiz show, was adjudged the best film. (ANI)

Kollywood top heroine Shriya Saran signed for ‘Komagata Maru’

Acclaimed director Deepa Mehta, who is currently busy with the promotion of ‘Videsh’ in India has signed Shriya Saran for her next film ‘Komagata Maru’. The film in which Akshay Kumar is playing the male lead is about the journey of an ill fated ship, which sets out on its voyage from India to Vancover. Shriya will be playing the younger of the only two female passengers who are on board the ship. Very few people know that Akshay was the first choice of Deepa Mehta for the role which was played by John Abraham in ‘Water’.

This was when Deepa was making the movie with Shabana Azmi and Nandita Das. But the film ran into a lot of controversies in Benaras which forced the director to abandon the film then but not give up on it. A few years later, she shot the movie in Sri Lanka with a different cast. Nevertheless, Akshay and Deepa finally come together with ‘Komagata Maru’, the shooting of which is expected to begin in Septembet this year. After this, Deepa has her sights set on Salman Rushdie’s Midnight Children.

Asin blamed for her missing manager

Seems like a former assistant of Bollywood Actress Asin has allegedly gone missing and his mother blamed Asin for the incident. Muthukmaraswamy (23), who was employed with Asin in Chennai and left along with her to Mumbai more than a year ago when the actress moved to the metro to shoot for the Aamir Khan-starrer ‘Ghajini’, has been missing for the past ten days, his mother Sudalaivadivu told PTI here today. Though Swamy had initially expressed joy working with Asin, he later complained of being verbally abused by the actress, the manager’s mother alleged. She said her son could not be contacted on his mobile phone and Asin’s father Joseph told her that Swamy had already quit his job and “joined an anti-social gang.” Police officials who are investigating the case said that Asin’s father had informed a local police station in Mumbai, as the rules mandate there, that Swamy had quit on Januray 21 and the salary amount had been settled.
