Arrested on the charge of raping his domestic help, actor Shiney Ahuja appears to be remorseful during interrogation, according to police. Assistant Police Commissioner Dilip Suryavanshi is quoted by a news agency as saying: "He (Shiney) is completely shattered and is repenting for what he had done." Another police officer told the agency that the actor did not realize the gravity of what he was doing at the time of the alleged crime. "He thought the victim would keep quiet and not complain to anyone," the officer said. "Though the actor was uncomfortable during interrogation, yet he answered many of our questions," the officer added.
In fact, some reports quote police sources as saying that Shiney has admitted to having consensual sex with the maid but he doesn’t know why she’s slapping him with a rape charge. Ahuja’s lawyer, Srikant Shivade, however, said if the actor has given any statement to police on his alleged role in the crime, it would not have evidential value in the court. "We will wait until the chargesheet is filed," he said. The medical reports of the maid have confirmed that she was raped. There are also some injuries reported on her private parts. The maid has alleged that Shiney gagged her before raping her. The actor is in police custody till June 18. According to a police officer Ahuja has not been sleeping well in Andheri lock-up and even skipped dinner on Monday night.
